Working Together to Support Children and Young People
Schools and education providers are central to the work of Reading FC Community Trust.
We work with schools across Berkshire and the surrounding areas to deliver education, physical activity, mentoring and personal-development programmes. Our relationship with Reading Football Club helps us engage pupils through relevant experiences while supporting wider educational and wellbeing outcomes.

School Programmes
Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of football to inspire children aged 5–11 to become active and develop essential life skills. The programme also provides opportunities for school competitions, stadium visits and teacher development.
Support can include football-themed resources and activities connected to:

Premier League Inspires
Premier League Inspires supports young people who are disengaged from education or at risk of not reaching their potential.
Delivered in partnership with schools, it covers themes including:
- Mental health
- Resilience
- Healthy relationships
- Careers
- Leadership
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Social action
School Sport and PE
Our school-sport provision supports physical education and increased participation within schools.
Available activity can include:
- Breakfast clubs
- Lunchtime clubs
- After-school programmes
- PE and PPA cover
- INSET-day activities
- Teacher development
- Sports enrichment
Reading Alternative Provision
Reading Alternative Provision supports children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education because of behavioural, emotional, social, medical or additional learning needs.
The Trust works with schools, local authorities and other professionals to develop individual education packages and appropriate referral pathways.
RAP SEND Hub
The RAP SEND Hub supports young people with SEND, particularly those with Education, Health and Care Plans who require additional structure, therapeutic support and personalised learning.
The Trust works with schools, families and local authorities to develop programmes around individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
Step 2 Success
Step 2 Success is an early-intervention mentoring programme commissioned by Wokingham Borough Council.
It supports children and young people experiencing emotionally based school avoidance, poor attendance and other barriers to education.
Training and Qualifications
The Trust offers sport and coaching education for secondary pupils, college and university students, community coaches, teachers and teaching assistants.
Working With the Trust
Schools can work with Reading FC Community Trust to:
- Deliver activities within the school
- Access mentoring and targeted support
- Refer pupils into specialist provision
- Strengthen PE and school-sport delivery
- Support pupils’ confidence and wellbeing
- Create volunteering and development opportunities
- Discuss commissioned or bespoke provision
The appropriate route will depend on the programme, the pupil’s needs and whether a formal referral is required.
