Step 2 Success is an early intervention mentoring programme commissioned by Wokingham Borough Council to support children and young people experiencing emotionally based school avoidance, poor attendance and wider barriers to education.
Using a trauma-informed and child-centred approach, every young person receives weekly one-to-one mentoring tailored around their strengths, interests and individual goals. The programme works closely with schools, families, Early Help, Social Care and wider professionals to improve attendance whilst also improving emotional wellbeing, resilience and confidence.
Progress is monitored using recognised outcome measures including:
- Outcome Star
- Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS)
- Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)
